2.Five considerations come into play here:
Variety: There should be sufficient variety in techniques to keep the lesson lively and interesting. Most successful lessons give students a number of different activities during the class hour. This keeps minds alert and enthusiasm high.
Sequencing: The techniques or activities should be sequenced logically. That is to say, elements of a lesson should build progressively toward accomplishing the ultimate goals. For example, easier aspects will no doubt be better placed at the beginning of a lesson.
Pacing: Pacing can mean a number of things. First, it means that activities are neither too long nor too short. Second you need to anticipate how well your various techniques “flow” together. Third, good pacing also is a factor of how well you provide a transition from one activity to the next.
Timing: Considering the number of minutes in the class hour, the lesson should be appropriately timed. This is one of the most difficult aspects of lesson planning to control. It is not unusual for new teachers to plan a lesson so tightly that they actually complete their lesson plan early, or they sometimes are not able to complete their lessons within the planned time allotment. Therefore timing is an element that you should build into a lesson plan. If your planned lesson ends early, have some backup activity ready to insert. If your lesson isn’t completed as planned, be ready to gracefully end a class on time and on the next day pick up where you left off.
Flexibility: The teacher should be able to use any number of different techniques and not be a slave to one methodology. For any number of reasons what the teacher has planned may not be appropriate for the class on a particular day. The flexible teacher will be able to change the plan in such a situation.
