【Case Reflection】
Student K usually hears complaints such as “English is hard to learn because of its dullness and endless vocabulary”, which has a negative effect on his interest in English. When he goes to school with such a negative preconception, he is not likely to be motivated to learn English. Equally, this is likely to lead to poor results in the College Entrance Examination, and prevent entrance to his university of choice.
How do you think we can avoid such problems? How can we help students like K to establish confidence in learning English?
In this chapter we will analyse the fundamental elements of English teaching, mainly about students, teachers, teaching content, and teaching environment.
Learning is what students do, and is what teachers hope they can improve with good teaching. In discussing the nature of good teaching elements, the first thing we need to consider is the students.
