What is the structure of the passage?

Answer:

The whole passage can be divided into four parts.

1.Part I (paras. 1-9): at eighty, after a bad fall, my mother’s mind began to wander free through time.

2.Part II (paras. 10-15): my mother had been a formidable woman.

3.Part III (paras. 16-39): I gradually gave up arguing my mother back to the real world.

1)(paras. 16-31): she wouldn’t recognize me but remember her birthday.

2)(paras. 31-34): I came to understand why she dwelled on dead decades.

3)(paras. 35-39): I began trying to travel with her into the past.

4.Part IV (paras. 1-9): I realize there was a dispute about time between my children and me, as there had been between my mother and me.
