The whole passage can be divided into three parts.

(1)Part I (para. 1-12): in a café Vera met by chance the man she had a romantic relationship with six years ago.

(2)Part II (para. 13-60): their chance meeting was brief.

1)(para. 13-21) They reminisced about their first afternoon they spent together at Kew Gardens.

2)(para. 22-44) he told her about his travels in Russia.

3)(para. 45-60) the man made it clear that he did not intend to pick up their relationship.
