PART 1

“O Captain! My Captain!” is a poem written by Walt Whitman after the death of Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated on April 14th ,1865. This poem conveys the deep sorrow of the poet as well as that of American people. Abraham is a great man, he led the country and abolished slavery. The poet felt overwhelmed for his death.
